Remote peering

How a network whose routers are not in one of our facilities, whether in the Philippines or abroad, connects over a transport link and peers as any other member.

Who it is for

Networks in the Visayas, Mindanao and other parts of Luzon, and networks outside the Philippines. A remote member has a port at one of the facilities of Maharlika IX and reaches it over a transport link. It peers with the route servers and with other members exactly as a member with a router in the facility does, at the same port price. Maharlika IX works with its members and partner networks to extend access beyond its own locations, where that is technically and commercially feasible.

What you provide

A transport link from your network to the facility of your choice, ordered from a transport provider present there, ending either in your own router in the facility or in an Ethernet handoff from the transport provider to your exchange port. The port carries one MAC address, as every port does, so the handoff must present your router’s address, not the provider’s. The transport link and its cost are between you and the transport provider.

What the exchange provides

The port at the facility, the cross-connect details agreed with the facility, the peering LAN and the two route servers, and the welcome guide with your connection information. The peering team advises on the nearest facility to your network and on the transport providers present there.
