Our purpose

Maharlika IX was set up so that organisations of every size have a fair opportunity to connect, take part and grow in the Philippine digital community. The benefits of an exchange should not be limited to the largest networks: growing providers, regional operators, schools and public institutions can take part as well.

Who can join

Any network with a public ASN can apply: internet service providers (ISPs), carriers, cable and broadband operators, content providers, cloud platforms, data centre operators, government and academic networks, banks and financial institutions, and enterprises. Requests are assessed against our technical requirements, network capability and the policies of the exchange. Members peer through the route servers, directly with each other, or over a private VLAN. Each network keeps control of its own routing policy.

Where we are

Ports are available in Metro Manila, Bulacan and Rizal. Laguna and Cavite are planned. Networks elsewhere in the Philippines or abroad connect over a transport link to one of these locations. Maharlika IX works with its members and partner networks to extend access beyond its own locations, where that is technically and commercially feasible.

What it costs

The 1G community port is free for eligible emerging and low-traffic networks. 10G, 25G and 100G ports have published monthly charges.

Routing security

Both route servers check every announcement against RPKI and, where a member has an IRR filter, against its IRR data. Routes that fail are rejected. Maharlika IX is a participant in the MANRS programme for internet exchanges.

Memberships and listings

Maharlika IX is a MANRS IXP Programme participant, a member of APIX and of APNIC, and is listed in IXPDB and PeeringDB.
